This should have been done 2 months ago...oops This tasting was the night that we hit 200.
Oh yeah, with special guest star Timm
Gritty McDuff's Vacation Land Summer Ale
"Smells like skunk." -Matt
"Smells like buttered wheat toast" -Wes (and I agree)
Timm says that it tastes like liquid toast
This would make a great breakfast beer. The best quote from this beer tasting would be:
Me: "I could eat this with pancakes...I wouldn't have to make toast."
Matt: "And then I would call your AA advisor*."
*For the record I don't go to AA.
3.5 Steins out of 5
Red MacGregor
Great malty chocolate taste mix with a woody flavor.
3.75 Steins out of 5
Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema
So we were split in our liking of the flavor. Wes and I really liked it with ratings of a 5 and a 4.5, but Matt and Timm weren't big fans. It had an Oatmeal smell and an oatmeal flavor. "Sour smell and a bittersweet taste." - Wes The taste was very complex. Timm hates it he said, "Beer shouldn't be this creamy." Matt said that he appreciates the multitude of flavor but he didn't like it.
3.25 Steins out of 5
Otter Creek Wolaver's
Certified Organic 98% organic. Hoppy-chocolate taste. "Normally I hate pales, but this has a great pale." Yeah I said that, and I don't really know what that means. I was slightly tipsy...so yeah. It also has a light cinnamon taste.
3.6 Steins out of 5
Oskar Blues Brewer Dale's Pale Ale
Very hoppy smell.
"Tastes like celery." - Matt (yeah we know he's crazy
Really bitter taste
"4.5 cause it came in an aluminum can" -Wes
3.75 Steins out of 5
Hair of the Dog Ruth All American Ale
This beer went supernova on us I.E. there was a major spill. VERY heady. Winey lambic smell, if I didn't know it was an ale I would think it was a lambic. Wheat and Blonde and Lambic. The more we drink the worse it tastes.
1.5 Steins out of 5
Pabst Blue Ribbon
I've never had it before and it doesn't taste like anything
2 Steins out of 5
Keystone Light
"It's not good, I would go so far as to say it's bad." - Wes
"This is the most bearable macro we've had" Matt
1.75 Steins out of 5
Otter Creek Pale Ale
Amazing Head. Citrusy - peppery taste mixed with hops. The head is oversized like that of a midget. "If this beer had to wear a shirt it would have to have snaps on the sides to get the head out it's so big." - Wes Original
4 Steins out of 5
Toleration Ale (This was beer #200, but I suck at putting up entries in a timely fashion)
Does not contain any barely, rye, or wheat malt.
"Smells like cough syrup. And the Eisboc" -Wes
The taste is obnoxiously sweet. It tastes like alcohol, sugar, and water. It kind of reminds me of a schnapps. It does not taste like beer at all. If we were allergic to beer, we would have this and convince ourselves that it was beer...if I didn't know what beer tasted like.
